Co-design a Feedback Tool for Visual Artists

Through a series of guided activities, over the course of three 90-minute online sessions, participants will help design a new art feedback tool.

Participant Criteria:

• 2D visual artist (e.g., painter, illustrator, digital artist) with a consistent art practice, who values feedback
• At least 18 years old
• Comfortable using English
• Able to view shared materials on screen and hear and take part in group discussions over Zoom (with or without corrective aids)
• Located in Canada or the United States
• Have access to a laptop or desktop computer to use during study sessions (no mobile phones or tablets), with attached microphone and camera
• Willing to share details of your art practice with the researcher and a small group of fellow artists
• Willing to be audio/video recorded during these sessions

Activities:

• Three 90-minute online sessions (to be scheduled once per week, on the same day and time for three weeks in a row, based on participant availability)
• Two 60-minute pre-work assignments (to be completed before each of the first two sessions)
• One brief tech setup meeting (approx. 10 minutes, a few days before first session)

Compensation:

Selected participants will have the option to choose a $120 CAD gift card for either DeSerres, Canadian Tire, Amazon (Canada) or an equivalent value in a USD gift card for BLICK or Amazon (US) after completing the three sessions. If a participant chooses to withdraw prior to completion, they will receive a gift card worth $30 CAD if they withdraw after the first session or a gift card worth $60 CAD if they withdraw after the first two sessions. No compensation is provided for completing this screening questionnaire or responding to emails.
