Opportunities
We are currently
seeking both Masters and Ph.D. students to join our research group, and
short-term undergraduate opportunities will be considered upon request.
We also welcome new collaborations with industry, which may be possible
to supplement via grants from Mitacs or other sources. Potential industry collaborators should contact RISE leader Dr. David Thue.
Prospective Graduate Students (undergraduate students - see below)
Prospective graduate students can join RISE by being accepted into one of the following programs at Carleton University:
- Ph.D. in Information Technology
- Master of Applied Science: Digital Media
- Master of Applied Science: Digital Media with Specialization in Data Science
- Master of Human-Computer Interaction
- Excellent academic achievement - at least in the final year of your previous degree, and ideally in all years.
- Strength in programming or analytical reasoning - ideally both.
- Very good English language skills

of the programs above and (b) contact RISE leader Dr. David Thue by

Prospective Undergraduate Students
Prospective undergraduate students can apply to join RISE for short-term research projects in a variety of ways:
- As an I-CUREUS student. 150 hour research project spanning 4-8 months. Fall term, Winter term, or both. Apply in August.
- As an NSERC USRA student. Full time research project for 16 weeks. Summer term. Apply in February.
- As a Directed Studies student. 4 month research project equivalent to a 0.5 credit course. Fall term or Winter term. Apply in August or December.
- Excellent academic achievement - at least in courses relevant to RISE's research topics. For NSERC USRA, general excellence is required.
- Strength in programming or analytical reasoning - ideally both.
- Very good English language skills
